They are popular, global icons and also engaged to each other. Meet Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas. The new celebrity couple that has kept fans entertained with their PDA and romance. After keeping media and fans guessing for the longest time, Nick and Priyanka made it official with a traditional roka ceremony on August 18 in Mumbai. The lovebirds are now back to the US.
This is what Nick Jonas told about his love with Priyanka Chopra:
Nick for the first time opened up on his relationship with Priyanka at Jimmy Fallon’s show. The 25-year-old singer revealed how the two met and fell in love.
“We met through a friend, so we got connected first over texts and we starting talking for a while and it was about six months before we met up in person. And then we actually attended the Met Gala [last year] together, had a great time, just as friends,” Nick said.
He added that at that time many would ask them if they are dating, but the answer was a big “no.”
“Our lives were kind of taking us in different places,” Nick added. “The thing that is funny, people ask us, both in interview settings and in private, ‘Are you guys seeing each other?’ And the answer was no. And people thought we were being coy, and so did we, until we cut to now [and] we’re engaged, so the story sort of wrote itself.”
Nick revealed but things got serious only five months ago when the two met again, and knew that this was the right time to jump into a relationship.
“But we then met up a couple months ago, I think five months ago now, and it was kind of immediate. I think we just knew it was right and jumped right in and we’re very happy,” he said.
When the show host asked Nick if the couple had a celebrity nickname, Nick cheekily suggested that he liked the name “Prick”.
Recently, Priyanka’s mother Madhu Chopra shut down all speculation about the wedding date. “They haven’t decided on a wedding date yet. It’s too soon. These are just baseless rumours. Both of them have work commitments right now which they need to finish. They will take some time to decide where they want it and when they want it,” she said.
